| I consider myself to be an intermediate woodworker. Using various joints including dovetails, mitres, and other multifaced joints in my work. I bought the 4410l to do a house full of baseboard and some crown moulding and am very pleased with the performance of this saw. Right out of the box, which arrived in only 4 days,the saw produced machinist square cuts and absolutely "light tight" crown cuts. ALL angles came dead accurate from the factory. The laser is just a wow factor and the dust collection isn't the greatest but the cuts this slider makes are a thing of beauty and ease,even with the supplied blade. I honestly don't understand the negative reviews about accuracy with this unit. I have the 10" Bosch contractors saw and its performance was what led me to this sliding mitre saw, Bosch was up to the task again. Fit,finish,upfront controls,the micro fine adjustment was wonerful on the crown cuts,...all great. This is good saw and I recommend it highly. |

For every one out there, the Bosch 4410L is a great saw.

-On board tool storage for adjustments and blade change
-Up front release for bevel/compound cuts and a max bevel override that does not require you to true it 45 degrees afterward, like the Hitachi C10FSH
-Quick and fine adjustment for depth of cut
-Standard adjustable table extension
-Adjustable trigger handle
-Miter scale is cast (not a sticker like Hitachi C10FSH
-When truing the saw use machinist squares/triangles or a quality combination square and the settings will REMAIN TRUE by far longer than the Hitachi 10" or the Dewalt 12" slide compound

-the laser is a 1/32 away from the actual cut and is only active while the blade is spinning
-dust collection is ok but, what slide compound has great dust collection?
-Read the instructions before using the micro adjustment knob
-6 pounds heavier than the Hitachi C10FSH

I've owned the Dewalt 12", Hitachi 10" and recently the Bosch 10" slide compound and it is by far the best saw out of the three I've used.
In general the saw is a little complicated but read the directions and you'll be happy. |

i was dissapointed to read the negative reviews by others regarding this great tool. i am replacing a makita ls 1013 saw with this one, i have been using the makita brutally for about five years (finish work, cabinets, framing) - it has been great but i was never satisfied with how difficult it was to square the fence to the blade - the adjustment always needed to re re-adjusted; the dual slides became very dirty and difficult to operate and the miter pivot got clogged a lot.
i am impressed with the quality of features and the thoughtfulness of the levers, guages, etc. on the bosch 4410. i really like the way the motor is placed up behind the blade, keeping it out of the way. the saw has tons of power - scary power really. i had heard that there was a lot of plastic on the bosch saws - not so. there is of course some - but most everything is quality machined aluminum - very nice. most of the knobs and pins are coated with a plastic or rubber. all the controls are up front and very intuitive. i really like the operational instructions on a sticker on the saw - very easy to follow. the fact that the two extension wings slide out from the base of the saw is really nice - i was always hunting for those bar supports on the makita.
the saw came securely boxed wrapped in a durable plastic sheet. cut perfectly the first time. i love the high level of visability to either side of the blade and the pivoting top handle is a nice addition.
in short, i could not be more pleased with the quality, function, accuracy and finish of this saw. i tested the squareness of the blade - it was dead on right out of the box. I love the micro adjust feature as well - beats a hammer and a block of wood.
the folks at bosch have really produced a quality machine that i am sure will last for years to come.
if i could give it six stars i would. again, dont be swayed by the negative reviews - i am not sure where that came from...

Buyers Remorse?

Let me start off by saying I'm not a cabinet maker of 20 years nor a sun tanned construction worker on my sixth miter saw. I can't tell you about cut comparisons and won't try to sway you on accessories I know nothing about. This is my first miter saw and I thought I might be able to help someone in the same boat. I knew nothing about miter saws so I started a two month long search that included the internet, magazines, and local store visits. Like most (all) items everyone has a favorite but like cream some names always rise to the top. The majority of the tool reviews put Makita and Bosch at the top of the miter saw list. Many customer reviews also found favorites in DeWalt, Delta, Hitachi, Milwaukee and, Ridgid. I don't really care about the names since I own products from many of the above. My only criteria for this selection was to avoid my greatest fear "Buyers Remorse".
After doing my homework I sat down with the information gathered and had to decide what type of saw met my needs.
-My table saw has a 10 inch blade so why not stick with this size? - cut capacity
-Can cut capacity be increased without going to a larger blade? - slider
-How about a laser? - why not?
-Dual bevel? - almost standard
-Ease of use? - proper adjustment location with precision movement. good manual
So it was going to be a 10 inch dual bevel compound slider with laser.
This combination pretty much left me with the Hitachi, the Makita and, the Bosch. From my review reading I narrowed the selection down to Makita or Bosch but I wanted to see all three in person first. I could not find the 10 inch Bosch in my area so I checked out the 12 inch in its place. If price and availability were not an issue the Bosch would win hands down. I may not have know anything about miters but I knew quality when I saw it. The Bosch appeared to be better built, certainly had a better layout and had a smoother action than the other two. My choice seemed to be a no brainer until Amazon offered the Makita at a very hard to pass up price the same day I was going to make my move. I ran back to the store to take another look at the Makita, thought about "Buyers Remorse" and ordered the Bosch. I ordered it from Amazon because of the price and it was not available locally. It arrived in good shape and thank god it had a good manual because I didn't have a clue as to what to do with it. After much reading, I mounted the saw on a Delta miter saw stand, nice stand, good price at Lowe's. I had to make a small blade adjustment to get it plumb and I was up and running. The included Bosch blade is decent but I replaced it with an Infinity "Miter Max" and all is well (I'll keep the Bosch blade for back-up).
After a lot of playing and a few home projects you may ask about "buyers Remorse" - Not here - not with this saw!
Update: After a full year of use and many projects later I'm still very happy with this purchase. I do agree that dust collection additions are a must and the laser site is only to be used for quick rough cuts, but I think this is true on all miter saws. You should also invest in a top-notch quality blade. Great saw! |

I had a 10 inch Delta dual bevel compound miter saw for several years, but wanted to buy a slider to increase the cross cut capacity. I also did a bit of research like others who have reviewed this saw. It seems a few years ago many saws had trouble with play in the sliding mechanism, but that seems to have been resolved for the most part in the new saws. Some of the negative reviews here scared me a bit, but I was convinced to buy this saw after reading a saw to saw comparison of six sliding compound miter saws (SCMS) in Fine Woodworking (October 2006). This saw was their top pick so, I decided to purchase from Amazon. If you are considering buying a 10 inch SCMS, I highly recommend reading the review in Fine Woodworking. The review gives a detailed comparison of the saws using identical cutting tests.
The saw arrived via UPS without any problems. I checked all angles for accuracy with set up, and everything was dead on right out of the box. No adjustments for my saw! The blade is high quality - about the level of a CMT blade, but probably not up to Forrest blade standards. Yes, the dust collection is about average, but I have not seen a saw that collects anywhere near all the dust produced. The one negative is the laser. It is not accurate, so do not expect it to be. If you need a saw that has an accurate laser, this is not it. However, I have read the only saw that does have an accurate laser is the Delta 12 inch chop saw. Delta no longer makes a SCMS. So, it seems right now no one offers a SCMS with an accurate laser.
So, bottom line, this is a great saw, that easily has 12 inch crosscut capacity (my old delta was only about 4.5 inch capacity. Another great feature to keep in mind is the up front bevel lock, rather than the lock being placed in the back of the saw table as most brands do. My saw was ready out of the box. |
